In 2025, we visit Sri Lanka twice. The first, in February for two weeks in Kandy plus three stops in the south, and again in late May/early June on the east coast. After several visits, we’ve settled on starting any visit with three nights at Gomez Place in Negombo. It’s LGBT-friendly and close to the ocean and lots of restaurants. After our favorite Airbnb in Kandy, we enjoy Ell, Yala and Galle. In May we return to the “secret beach” of Nilaveli where we have a three-week reservation at Nilaveli Beach Condos. We’ll add a stop at Sigiriya on way back to Gomez Place and the airport. Our travel guide and good friend, Ayesh, makes it easy. We returned to Gomez Place, near the sea, from February 7-10, 2025 and again June 3rd and 15th ($70/night). We stayed here last year and liked it enough to use it as a one to three night stay upon entry (exit) to (from) the country. The airport is about a half hour away. Gomez Place is LGBT-friendly and close to the beach with lots of restaurants. See our 2024 posting for more pics.
