Reflections on Malaysia 2025
Malaysia sits at the crossroads of our SE Asia playground. After our wonderful visit last year we decided to return for a longer visit at our same Airbnb in Kuala Lumpur and a longer visit in the mid-sized town of Ipoh we discovered on our 2024 visit. After 45 days in the country in the spring, we will return in December 2025 for a visit to Penang and Langkawi islands in the north.

We were here December 5-8, 2025 in a Suite with Garden View with breakfast ($107 per night, hotel website). It was not really a suite but the size of a standard hotel room. Breakfas was not extensive but adequate. Decent enought. Good location just off the Kimberly Street night time food scene.
We were here November 14 - December 5, 2025 in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with full kitchen, covered patio, beautiful yard and pool ($110 per night, Airbnb listing). Completely private fenced back yard with rice fields outside the front door. Loved it so much we are planning to come back for six weeks at the end of 2026. Grab (Uber) cars easily available. Walk to beach town possible. Highly recommend.
We were here November 6-14, 2025 in the Serene Suite with kitchenette, living room, 1 bedroom and two baths ($81 per night, property website). Rooftop pool, bar open in evenings. Loved it! We’re coming back for 10 nights at Chinese New Year in February 2026. Good location. Georgetown is fun! Highly recommend.
We were here one night June 2, 2025 ($140/night without breakfast). We have been trying different overnight hotels near KLIA to find the right one for routine return visits en route to our next destination. We found it! We’ll return. Straight forward and better than the rest. Good walking in the immediate neighborhood and good restaurant choices and other services too.
We were here May 9 - June 2, 2024 ($53/night). Our 19th floor Airbnb two bedroom/two bathroom apartment was better than many of the places we've rented! With wonderful views we made it work! As tall guys, the furniture wasn't quite right nor were the mattresses but we are adaptable! It was quiet and included a washer!
Rich took a solo getaway and was here May 2-9, 2025 (twin room, $32 per night without breakfast, property website). In one week, he had four one hour foot reflexology massages...great food... met friendly people...enjoyed fresh strawberries...also had three two hour massages and did lots of walking!
We enjoy Cameron Highlands and have now stayed in three different accommodations. This one is the least expensive, centrally located for easy access to restaurants and the most simple, but—as a no-nonsense option—it might be the favorite, so far! [It’s kind of hard to beat the 5-star Cameron Highlands Resort, though.]
