Hotel NH Orio al Serio, Il Caravaggio International Airport, Bergamo, Italy

We were here one night, October 19, 2025. We took the one hour bus from Milano Centrale train station and stayed at the airport on our last night in Italy to be better positioned for our departure. Our flight left the next day for Cairo, Egypt. We were randomly selected for a room upgrade—they choose one guest each day and this day, it was us! A beautiful parting gift from Italy!

With the free upgrade, we had a deluxe double room for $265 with a very good breakfast included. It was comfortable and convenient. Very nice shopping mall adjacent for dinner and conveniences. Recommend.

Airbnb Apartment, Lake Como, Italy

We were here October 13-19, 2025. We had a really gorgeous penthouse one bedroom 1.5 bath apartment with an add-on sofa bedroom with collapsible partition wall in living room for a third person through Airbnb for $246 per night (Airbnb listing). It was tucked above Como town but only a 10-15 minute walk to the center of town. The large outside terrace with sweeping views of the town, mountains and lake closed the deal for us for a leisurely six night stay at the end of our busy month in Italy. Perfect choice and highly recommend. Not your typical Airbnb!

Booking.com Apartment - WPRELAIS Palm Fronds, Milan, Italy

We were here October 9-13, 2025. We had a two bedroom, two bath apartment with balcony through booking.com (property link) for $243 per night. Good location walking distance to Centrale train station, Piazza del Duomo area and other central sights including the nearby Via Melzo and environs dining and shopping district. Quiet and secure—recommend.

Was also convenient enough to use to take a day trip to nearby Turin to visit the popular Egyptian museum.

The most famous frieze by Leonardo da Vinci in Milan is the fresco in the Sala delle Asse (Room of the Wooden Planks) at Castello Sforzesco. This fresco, completed in 1498, depicts a pretend pergola with intertwined branches of sixteen trees, forming a symbolic emblem. Another prominent work by Da Vinci in Milan is The Last Supper, located in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Airbnb Apartments, Venice, Italy

We were here October 6-9, 2025. We had two apartments for the four of us, just down the alley from each other. Very good location. The girls’ apartment was nicer with more color and touches; ours was utilitarian and quite stark. Ours was a two bedroom, two bathroom—booked at the last minute with limited supply but still meeting our requirements—for $231 per night (Airbnb listing). The girls’ apartment (Airbnb listing) was $290 per night. We’d recommend only the girls’ apartment.

Toscanella Royal Suite — Florence, Italy

We were here September 23-28, 2025 ($217/night booked about six months in advance via booking.com). It’s was a two bedroom, two bath apartment with a kitchen. It was in an exceptionally good location, snug for four people but comfortable. A great value, we thought! We used the kitchen only for coffee/tea, a quick breakfast plus snacks. We never used the table in the living room—just too cramped to be comfortable.
