Novotel Cairo Airport — Cairo, Egypt

We were here November 3, 2025 and had arranged for a Superior Double room ($155/night, more info) but got upgraded to a suite! Perfect last night in Egypt and perfectly positioned to begin our long flight onward the next day to Singapore. If you need a first or last night in Egypt near the airport to smooth out your travel, this is the place. We had a delightful connection with Novotel employee Miriam, at breakfast the next morning on our departure. Recommend.

House of Life Hotel - Abydos, Egypt

We were here one night Friday, October 31, 2025 (double room, $205 per night including breakfast and dinner, hotel website). Five minutes walking distance from Abydos temple.

We stepped away from our apartment in Karnak to come here and spend the night, returning to Karnak the following day, rather than making it a long day trip. Second time in this hotel. Definitely recommend if you want to stay over in Abydos.

We stopped along the way at Dendera Temple. There’s a few images from Dendera below too.

REGARDING THE MYSTERIOUS OSIRION…

CHATGPT: Abydos acts as a mirror. People who visit Abydos often report: vivid dreams, emotional release, clarity about purpose, reconnection with lineage, powerful synchronicities. Why? Because Abydos is a pattern accelerator. It mirrors back what you’re ready to integrate.

Your experience there — especially given your 85-day journey and the crescendo to Abydos — is exactly how the site works. It often delivers “closing messages” or teaching moments at the end of pilgrimages because it holds the archetype of completion, death, and rebirth.

In esoteric terms, Abydos is a node of “re-membering”. Abydos reconnects: fragmented identity → integrated identity, the personal → the ancestral, the physical → the mythic, the conscious → the timeless. This is why so many describe it not just as powerful, but alive.

DENDERA TEMPLE…

Karnak Flats Apartment — Karnak, Luxor, Egypt

We were here October 27 - November 3, 2025 in a two bedroom apartment ($207 /week, more info) just a 20 minute walk to the Karnak Temple Complex and perfectly located for all activities on both sides of the Nile river in the greater Luxor area. Just minutes away is the Hilton hotel where we had several meals. Expertly managed with five star service. Highly recommend.

Very comfortable accommodation, quiet, good AC and very responsive, helpful staff. They assisted us with our tours, drivers and guides at very reasonable prices.

Flower Pyramids Inn — Giza, Cairo, Egypt

We were here October 20-27, 2025 (“king” room with balcony $338/week, more info). On our first visit we stayed in the 5-star Marriott Mena House, on our packaged tour, but couldn’t bring ourselves to shell out the $650 per night to stay there again. Instead, we found this little Inn for less than $50 per night. Good AC. It’s funky and affordable. Management and staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice rooftop “restaurant” where a simple breakfast (included) is served. Rustic but comfortable. Upclose, amazing views of the pyramids from rooms and rooftop!

The building houses separately run hotel operations on different floors. So, the floor below Flower Pyramids is a different hotel! That’s the first time we’ve ever seen that! See pics from the accommodation below.
