Rich has been hearing stories and suggestions from other travelers about places to stay in the Philippines for years. He decided to take a solo trip to the island of Boracay from February 4-16, 2026 [while I was in Cambodia touring the ancient ruins around Siem Reap]. Boracay is famous for it’s gorgeous white sand beaches and clear blue waters. Below are pics from around the small island, in addition to an overnight stay in Manila. It was a first-time visit to the Philippines!

It was a quick overnight stay but Rich met Steve, a USA government TSA employee (Transportation Security Administration) stationed in Manila, who suggested going to the Filling Station restaurant nearby.
Rich stayed here from February 4-15, 2026 ($30 /night, property link) in one of just three rooms offered in guesthouse catering to gay men. Mar and Roger offer guests breakfast for an additional charge.
